DigitalBridge - Empowering charity leaders with AI and digital wisdom

Written by Jane Halstead | May 8, 2024 11:00:00 PM

We’re excited to launch our new ‘DigitalBridge’ volunteer campaign this month!

DigitalBridge aims to deliver digital support and AI knowledge into our charity network via a volunteering campaign supported by online resources – with the aim of helping leaders and managers of small charities and community organisations to upskill, expedite digital tasks and build knowledge in Generative AI.

We’ve teamed up with Microsoft and a number of our corporate partners to provide access, through remote volunteering, to training and support to help with digital tasks and learning.

Through the campaign, we’ll aim to pair charities and community causes up with volunteers to help with;

  • Learning about Generative AI & prompt writing
  • Using chat tools to create content & strategy
  • Getting the most from Excel & PowerPoint
  • Bespoke digital learning needs

How will the campaign work?

  • Good causes can start posting digital skills needs on the platform now!
  • Towards the end of May, corporate volunteers from the network will be invited to view the needs on a dedicated campaign page, and register their interest
  • Charity leads will be alerted when a volunteer registers interest, and the two parties can liaise to arrange a suitable time for a volunteer session
  • Charity leads add this event to the platform for the volunteer to sign up to
  • The first volunteer events will happen from the start of June onwards
  • The campaign will tie in and celebrate Volunteers Week (3-9 June) and The Big Help Out (7-9 June), when we see an uplift in volunteering interest

How is Microsoft involved?

As leaders in AI and digital skills development, we’re delighted to be teaming up with Microsoft for this campaign, who are supporting through the provision of training resources developed specifically to build knowledge. Volunteers will use/signpost these resources to ensure best practice is followed.

How to get involved! - (for charities and community causes)

  1. Post your digital skills needs on the platform - click ‘Get volunteers’, choose your page and select ‘Volunteering need’
  2. Choose ‘remote’ as the activity type
  3. Important! Choose ‘Digital Skills’ as the activity category - so we can make sure it is attached to the DigitalBridge campaign page and found easily by volunteers
  4. In the description, choose one of the suggested learning areas - or add your own digital learning need that is connected to one of these themes;
  • Learning about Generative AI & prompt writing
  • Using chat tools to create content & strategy
  • Getting the most from Excel & PowerPoint
  • Bespoke digital learning needs

Volunteers will start registering interest towards the end of May and onwards - so please add your digital skills needs as soon as possible!
